St. Philip helped to support Garang Manyok Giet in 2018 to attend African International University where he received his bachelor of theology degree in 2021.  He has been working in Juba, South Sudan as a teacher of Christian Religious Education and other subjects at a new Christian high school where  he works for room and board and to gain experience.  He is deeply grateful to St. Philip for contributing to his seminary education.

Mamer Bior Aleer is in his third of four years of Law School at the University of Nairobi.  St. Philip has contributed on two occasions to Mamer’s tuition through the endowment fund in 2020 and 2021.  Mamer has now found a sponsor that will support him until he graduates in May 2023.  Mamer would not have been able to begin his university education without the financial support of St. Philip.

St.Philip has been a huge blessing in other ways through the Endowment fund.

  • 2016: Purchase of 500L water tanks for the new Home Base in Nakuru, Kenya
  • 2017: supported a day for Arok Garang, founder of Seeds of South Sudan, and lost boy of Sudan, and his family to enjoy some time together and to visit Lake Nakuru in the town where our Home Base is located.
  • 2019: sponsored a full day Girls Leadership Seminar for middle school and high school girls in the SOSS program that included leadership training, Christian Religious Orientation, teambuilding, menstrual health hygiene, the creation of blessings books and a fish fry luncheon with cake. This was the first time in the girls lives to enjoy cake!
  • 2020: supported the sheltering at home needs of the entire SOSS community of more than 80 people during the COVID quarantine.
  • 2021: paid costs for two sick students to travel from Kakuma Refugee Camp to the Home Base in Nakuru, and to receive room, board and medical attention until they could find sponsors
  • Philip maintains the students in our program in the weekly prayers of the church.

St. Philip has been a blessing to the students in the SOSS program nurturing them in faith and giving them tools to be succeed through the education they have been given to be seeds of change for a just and peaceful South Sudan.
