Baptism

Holy Baptism is a gift from God! A gift that God promises to be present in, through the water and the Word. Holy Baptism is one of the two sacraments of the Lutheran Church; the other is Holy Communion.

In Baptism, we are washed by God of our original sin and claimed as a child of God. “God delivers us from the forces of evil, puts our sinful self to death, gives us new birth, adopts us as children, and makes us members of the body of Christ, the church” (ELW p. 225).

As we are baptized into Christ, we are made one with Christ and with all of God’s children.

At St. Philip, baptisms are done during any of our two worship services (Saturday evening or Sunday morning services).
