Meet the Staff
Reverend Brad Doty, Senior Pastor

Janet Shibly, Director of Music
Janet started as the Director of Music Ministries at St. Philip in January of 2017. She taught music in public schools for 30 years, and is excited to be sharing her love of music and the Lord in this different and exciting way. A proud graduate of Colorado State University, Janet earned her Bachelor of Music in Education degree in 1980. Although originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, she has lived most of her life in Colorado. Janet has been an active member of St. Philip for over 30 years and has sung in the choir for all of them. When her two daughters were younger, she led Sunday School music for nearly 10 years. Her late husband, C.J., often played the trombone and tambourine for worship services and fellowship functions. She adores her grandsons and her dogs, who are all named after musicians. Working in the yard, reading, and watching the Broncos are three of her favorite activities. Janet would like to extend an invitation to everyone to become involved in the music ministries at St. Philip and make a joyful noise unto the Lord!Melinda Svenkerud, Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries

Jess was born and raised in Littleton. After high school, she attended UNC-Greeley with a focus on Business while working part time. She started her management career with Bath and Body Works, and then transitioned into running DSW Shoe Stores for 15 years. While running stores, she became a Regional trainer, training all new Regional Managers, District Managers and Store Managers. Jess married her husband Brian in 2018, and while they planned to travel and remain dedicated to her career, their daughter was born in April of 2020. After becoming a mom, Jess stayed home for 2.5 years when the opportunity to work at SPELC presented itself, Jess was excited to apply and join the team. Joining SPELC has been a blessing to her and the entire Stepp family- Jess has expanded on her passion for business management while continuing her education in ECE and contributing to SPELC’s strengths. When she is not at SPELC, she enjoys playing Pokemon Go, spending time with family and friends, and being the best mom she can be.
