St. Philip Early Learning Center Registration 2018-2019

Choosing the right preschool is very important; it needs to be a perfect fit for both you and your child.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Preschool programs can range from 2.5 to 4 hours.
  • Having a shorter day means that “specials” may not be offered, or at least not on a daily basis.
  • Children attending a 2.5 hour program will not eat lunch at school.

Being a 4 hour program, SPELC is able to offer the following:

  • Many 2.5 hour programs group the 3,4,5 year olds together in one class, we DO NOT.
  • Children spend 30 minutes per day in both the Big Room and outside on the playground.  These active times, allow children to develop both their large and small motor skills as well as their cardiovascular endurance, while at the same time providing them opportunities to develop basic social skills and social competencies.
  • Children attend Music and Chapel daily, encouraging them to develop a sense of self in relationship to God and others.
  • Children eat lunch here at the preschool.  This gives them the opportunity to grow and learn socially and emotionally with other children in a relaxed, enjoyable environment, and providing children the experience of eating in a group setting before they eat in a grade school lunchroom, which can be scary.
  • We have the time in our daily schedule to offer many other special programs such as Stranger Danger, Dental Health, and a wonderful Christmas Program.

If you would like to take a tour of our facility and have an opportunity to see your child’s classroom for the 2018-2019 school year, please join us from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on either Wednesday, January 24 or Thursday, January 25, please feel free to bring your child with you!

If these dates and times won’t work for your schedule, please call the ELC Office to arrange a tour.

Classroom placement will be made at the discretion of the ELC Staff and will include, but is not limited to, child’s date of birth, previous preschool experience, and parental feedback.  SPELC’s objective is to create a balanced and enriched, developmentally appropriate learning environment.  Currently enrolled children will be given classroom placement priority over siblings who have not been enrolled in our program.

A Registration Confirmation Form will be mailed to you in late March indicating where your child has been placed.  If classes are full, your child’s name will be placed on a waitlist, and we will return your registration fee.

It is not required, but highly recommended, that Emerald and Pre-K children be toilet trained and have the skills needed to be independent in the bathroom.  Parents are strongly encouraged to help their child master these skills by the time they start school.

Pearl age children must be walking independently and able to eat finger foods with no assistance.  We are not able to bottle feed children, therefore, bottles are strongly discouraged.  Children should be able to use a “sippy cup” independently.

Please refer to our website (www.StPhilipELC.org) for additional information on staff/child ratios, classroom expectations, parent participation requirements, and fees.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call at 303-972-9774.  Thank you so much for letting us “Nurture Your Gift From God”.
